St. Anthony Main Engagement Session

Melissa and Andrew describe their relationship as "very Minneapolis", and a St. Anthony Main engagement session was the perfect way to document this chapter of their life and the city that has brought them together. A little backstory on these two, because they their backstory is too sweet not to share. They met each other shortly after each moving from out of state, and their dating life evolved with Minneapolis as a backdrop - they got to know each other through exploring the city, adventuring through neighborhoods and restaurants, and Andrew proposed to Melissa on the Stone Arch Bridge after a show at the Guthrie. It doesn't get any more Minneapolis than that :)

As we were planning their engagement session, Melissa and Andrew and I spent some time talking about their relationship at this moment in time. They're a happy, adventuresome couple who loves exploring the city. They wanted their engagement pictures to be more modern and lifestyle (and less traditional/formal) which is completely my style.

In planning a more lifestyle engagement session, we think about how we can structure the session to feel like an authentic activity rather than a fake "photoshoot". In Melissa and Andrew's case, they planned a date night for themselves that included some of their favorite parts of the city: dinner at Aster Cafe and a walk around the Stone Arch Bridge. Because this is a typical date for them, they were relaxed and happy and feeling very "them" - just look at their natural, lovely smiles!! That's one of my favorite parts of a relaxed lifestyle session: you feel more like yourself in the pictures, so you feel natural and look beautiful and happy!
