What inspires me?

I've always sought out inspiration--in art, music, and especially those glimpses of art-ful beauty in everyday life. These inspirations light my fire-- they motivate me, give me energy (for photography, art projects, and life in general!), make me think, and  help me feel alive and whole. Here's what's really jiving my soul this minute: Gorgeous music! I love finding songs that resonate in my soul and in my bones. Tyler (my partner!) discovered this band earlier this week and I haven't listened to anything else since. Their sound is rich and harmonious and totally energizing/inspiring. It's the definition of beautiful music.

Impressionistic Paintings! Like Van Gogh's gorgeous olive trees : ) Have you ever checked out Google Art Project? If not, look it up! You can check out tons of museum's collections of masterpieces. Well worth it!! So fun!

Specifically with Van Gogh's work, his use of color, thick paint texture, and emotion wins me over every time. I went to see his museum in Amsterdam and I spent hours and hours there and left feeling so full of inspiration and life and color. Speaking of, I'd say another big inspiration for me is getting out to see art in person- going to museums, art fairs, local gallery openings open studio events in my neighborhood, whatever! Seeing art, talking to artists and other art lovers--that's fills me up with all kinds of good inspiration!

Happy routines! Like drinking coffee!! Really, folks, I couldn't write a whole blog post about happy inspiring things without mentioning coffee : )

But actually, have a little happy-morning-time when I can drink coffee, read something relaxing, watch the sun come up, and have some happy morning conversation--that starts my day off right and helps me feel all full of energy and good things. I'd also say having breakfast with loved ones, taking late-night walks to talk about what's on your mind, chatting with my favorite vendors at the weekly farmers market, and cooking dinner with family all fall into this category as well. Happy life-inspiration-moments, full of art and life!
