Reminiscing about Heidi and Josh’s Wedding Through Their Wedding Album + Art

You might remember Heidi and Josh from my previous blog posts about their wedding (Heidi and Josh's Colorful, Bohemian Wedding at Golden Oak Farm) and their engagement shoot (Heidi and Josh's Sweet, Nerdy Engagement Portraits at the Science Museum of Minnesota). Heidi and Josh love art (Heidi is an artist herself!), and their wedding was full of handpicked details that really showed their vibrant and fun personalities. They’re joining me today for a blog post about the beautiful art we made together from their wedding day!

As you may have read already on my wedding photography FAQ page or in a previous blog post, I like to do an art consult in each couple’s home before their wedding. During my art consult at Heidi and Josh’s home, I discovered how much they adore handmade art! Their home is full of warm textures, rich colors, and meaningful objects (many of which were made by themselves or creative family members). There’s a sense of authenticity that is present in Heidi and Josh’s home. This same sense of genuineness was present during their wedding day as well, and so as we were planning their art together, I made it my goal to carry that warmth, texture, and intentionality into their wedding art.

Heidi and Josh’s framed wedding art

First up, we designed this wall gallery with a pair of frames. Heidi and Josh picked two pictures from their first look and chose a gold finish for their frames (a perfect mix of classic and fun). When clients are choosing photographs to group together in a gallery, I often recommend choosing pictures from the same physical spot. This brings a lovely sense of cohesiveness and continuity to the grouping! It also helps the colors go together in a way that feels intentional. There’s such a lovely energy in the two pictures that Heidi and Josh picked -- they both just radiate the happy energy that was present throughout their wedding day!

Heidi and Josh’s wedding album

And now, take a peek at Heidi and Josh’s beautiful wedding album! They picked a really gorgeous pale gray linen for the cover with their names imprinted in a coppery-rose gold foil. The light gray cover is clean and modern-feeling, and the modern typography they chose gives a lovely little hint of the fun that’s inside of the album! Throughout their wedding day, Heidi and Josh’s ceremony and reception featured a mix of bright, lush colors mixed with metallic accents, and the album cover that they chose supports their wedding day pictures in a way that feels harmonious.

I wish I could hand you Josh and Heidi’s wedding album so that you could flip through it and see their joy, but here’s the next best thing: a video of me turning through the album page by page! I hope you enjoy looking through it with me.

Looking inside Heidi and Josh’s wedding album, two things stand out to me: vibrant colors and a true sense of community. Heidi is a calligrapher with a beautiful eye for detail, and she took such great care picking out the details from her day! I wanted to make sure pictures of these details (the beautiful wooden arch with vibrant blooms from their wedding ceremony, one of the ushers holding their wedding program) would be remembered and documented in their wedding album. The colors that Heidi and Josh chose for the wedding mixed with the bright blossoms and verdant green trees really create this bright, happy feeling that flows throughout their pictures.

Heidi and Josh also emphasized to me how important and beloved their community is to them. They were SO excited to spend their wedding day with their best friends and family members, and I wanted to show this through the photographs I helped them choose for their wedding album! I brought in pictures of excited friends and family members sitting down before the ceremony and greeting each other as well as candid photos of Heidi and Josh’s favorite people celebrating joyously throughout the reception.
