Grace and Ella's Trio of Wedding Frames

I’m so excited to welcome Grace and Ella back to the blog! If you’ve stopped by my website before, you might remember Grace and Ella’s wedding at Mayowood Stone Barn from last fall.  Today I’ll be sharing the wedding art that they chose for their home, as well as a little more information about what the art design process is like.

Step One: Planning their art

Before their wedding, I met with Grace and Ella to brainstorm ideas for what types of wall art they might like in their home - I learned from our meeting that they were drawn to small groupings of frames. A couple of weeks after their wedding day, Grace and Ella came to my home studio for the reveal of their wedding photos. We revelled in their wedding pictures and recounted memories from their wedding day while celebrating their marriage (and drinking a little champagne, too)! Afterwards, I helped Grace and Ella choose three pictures to frame and display together as a trio.

Step Two: Choosing which pictures to frame

I really, really love the three pictures that Grace and Ella chose. The first picture they selected is from their ceremony. It's a pulled back view that shows their community surrounding and celebrating them under this magnificent tree at Mayowood Stone Barn. It’s a really atmospheric picture with a strong sense of place -- which is perfect, as Mayowood Stone Barn means a lot to them as a couple (Ella grew up right across the street)!

The second picture that Grace and Ella chose is one of my favorite pictures that I’ve ever taken. It shows Grace and Ella right as they’re walking out of their ceremony, completely overcome with joy and pride. Their people are cheering for them with so much elation. It captures the feeling of that exact moment in Grace and Ella’s wedding so genuinely.

The third picture that Grace and Ella picked is from their wedding reception. They’re kissing and snuggling as the sun is going down right between them. It’s a super romantic picture that really radiates the love and adoration Grace and Ella have for each other.

As a grouping, this trio of wedding pictures has SUCH a great balance and story. Grace and Ella chose to have the pictures hung with the more emotional, romantic picture in the middle. The pictures capture different moments and groupings from Grace and Ella’s wedding; it feels so storytelling when you look at all three pictures together!

The final step: Installing their wall gallery

A few weeks later, the frames arrived - these frames are made in Oregon, the prints are prepared by a local MN printer, and I usually have everything shipped directly to me so that I can assemble and frame the prints and make sure everything is perfect!   And then comes art installation day! I went to Ella and Grace's  house with my partner, Tyler, to install them. Tyler used to work at an art museum installing galleries, which is such a helpful skill! He brings all of the necessary tools and measures everything precisely. I love that I can offer this as a service to my couples -- instead of me packaging up the finished art and mailing it to my couples, I get to personally ensure it’s hung perfectly and matches the vision that my clients have dreamed up!

Grace and Ella, thank you for letting me share your marriage on my blog one more time. It was such a joy to celebrate the love that you two have for each other and I am so grateful to have worked with you. Thank you for celebrating the art hanging process with homemade pie, thank you for allowing me to capture your love story on camera, and thank you for being such radiant humans in this world.
