Nadia and Sal's Relaxed, Rainy Rose Garden Engagement Portraits

The day of their engagement session started quite stormy, so Nadia, Sal and I were communicating throughout the morning on whether the session would happen indoors or out, or not at all. Happily, Nadia loves the rain and the rich, saturated colors that happen when the world is a little wet, so when the storm slowed to a soft mist we all met up in the Lyndale Park Rose Garden to take these lovely portraits.

Heidi and Josh's Sweet, Nerdy Engagement Portraits at the Science Museum of Minnesota

Heidi and Josh are fun, laid back and the best kind of nerdy. When we started chatting about engagement photos they knew they didn’t want their portraits to look just like everyone else’s and we designed a session that would feel true to them, incorporating places and elements that would reference some of their important moments and the interests they share (Books! Star Wars! Harry Potter!)

Hannah and Matt's Romantic, Summer Stone Arch Bridge Engagement Photos

Hannah and Matt wanted some iconic views of the city along with some lovely greenery and so the Stone Arch Bridge was a perfect choice. It’s one of my favorite places to photograph in Minneapolis; not only are the sunsets amazing, but the St. Anthony Main side of the bridge offers the perfect chance to blend the more architectural backdrop of the bridge with warm, vibrant green photos in the park.

Emily and Tommy's Cozy, Plaid-filled Fall Wedding at Gale Woods Farm

Emily and Tommy were so excited to embrace fall in their wedding details. With a practical approach to the chilly weather, they outfitted their bridesfolk and attendants with plaid shawls to compliment Emily’s amazing plaid shawl/coat and coordinate with the groomsmen’s checked shirts. The result is a mash-up of jewel-toned colors, patterns and textures that feels casual and cozy but also beautifully intentional.

Hannah and Matt's Snowy Engagement Photos

Hannah and Matt were planning a big wedding with the focus on their close-knit communities of friends and family. (It’s in a few weeks and I’m so excited!) So they wanted these engagement photos to be a bit more intimate-feeling, light-hearted and focused on them as a couple.

We planned a session for February at Lake of the Isles. I love this location for photos, depending on the specific part of the lakeshore you choose it can feel like a little city neighborhood or a park in the middle of nowhere. These photos are so natural and woodsy, full of trees and fresh, white snow.

For their engagement portraits, Emily and Ian wanted to capture two different vibes and two different locations. One of the things I love most about my work as a wedding photographer is that I get to be creative every day, to help all different types of couples tell their love stories through photos.
