St. Paul fall engagement session
Eric and Jen are a sweet, lovely couple planning a wedding for next October. They live in Lowertown, and we decided that a St. Paul fall engagement session in nearby Mears Park would be a fitting way to capture their neighborhood and this chapter of their lives.
A St. Paul Fall Engagement Session for Eric and Jen
Eric and Jen chose two locations for their engagement session- we spent some time at Mears Park in downtown St. Paul; the park is located right in the couple’s neighborhood, and has a nice mix of urban and natural elements, so it feels neighborhood-y and casual. As sunset approached, we made our way to the green space on the edge of the Mississippi in St. Paul, where there was stunning bright red foliage and a lovely view of the river valley. We were able to take advantage of the warm sunset light to capture some beautiful, romantic portraits.
What to wear for an engagement session
Jen and Eric chose to change outfits as we changed locations during their session, and a lot of couples do this for engagement pictures. A portrait session is always kind of a special occasion (unless you’re a model, it’s not the kind of thing that happens regularly) and engagement portraits present a way to document a moment in time and capture this chapter in life as a couple. A lot of couples will choose to wear multiple outfits for their session so they can more fully document themselves and their style – couples often choose a more casual outfit (what you’d wear on a Sunday afternoon if you’re walking around the neighborhood) and a slightly more dressed-up outfit (what you’d wear going on a date, for example).
