Hi friend!

If we haven't met yet, I'm Alyssa (she/her)! I'm a Minneapolis-based wedding photographer and the artist behind Alyssa Lund Photography.

ABOUT ME AS A HUMAN

I love coffee, homemade pickles, and a good cocktail! I can’t keep a houseplant alive to save my life, but I love spending time in nature and I’m usually wearing earth tones (and my chacos… way too late into the cold season!).

I’m a ‘people person’ and a big ole extrovert. I’ve built my life around the people who are super important to me: I savor time at home with my partner Tyler and our pup Luna, I’m super close with my family, and I love nothing more than weekly potlucks or craft nights with my besties.

I’m also an empath, an enneagram two, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. In general, I’m a big feeler :) I used to think that my big squishy heart and the way my eyes easily well up with tears was sign of weakness, but over time I’ve grown to really love it about myself. And as a photographer, being in tune with the flow of emotions around me lets me take pictures that are really rich with feelings and life.

I’m also super organized and a very intentional planner, which is less flashy but I’m proud of that too. My organized brain and love of color-coded spreadsheets means that I get to help my clients think through the logistics and details of their wedding days or family photoshoots.

I’m a summer girl at heart: I'm all about sunny state park hikes with pals and an outdoor patio happy hour with my sibling. In the winter, I live in a nest of blankets and thrive off of baked goods (Tyler makes the world's tastiest homemade pizza crust, which basically helps me survive the cold season).

Apart from social time, nothing fills my cup like spending time outside - taking my little pup Luna for a walk, going hiking in state parks, and tending my little garden (Tyler handles the indoor plants, but I’m decent at growing tomatoes in my little backyard garden!)

ABOUT ME AS A PHOTOGRAPHER

I’ve been taking pictures for as long as I have memories! I remember taking a photo of my parents with a disposable camera when I was five, and I remember using a purple film camera to photograph my sibling and our stuffed animals when I was in elementary school. When I was in high school, I saved up a year of babysitting money to buy my first fancy camera, and I apprenticed under a local photographer for a few years.

I got my start in professional photography during college in 2010, when I began photographing weddings during the summers. I wasn’t studying photography at the time: I have a liberal arts degree from St. Olaf College (which I’m deeply grateful for — I don’t think I would be the business owner I am today without it), but when I had an open spot in my schedule I’d fill it up with art classes, and those bits of creative education gave me a strong arts background.

After college, I lived in Boston for a couple years while my partner Tyler was in grad school, and I worked a day job in the social services/nonprofit world. I took night classes at a local photography college, where I studied film photography and business, and eventually I knew that I was ready to make photography my job.

I went full-time in 2015, and haven’t looked back! I’m so grateful to get to do this for a living.

Over time, I’ve honed in on the things that I’m best at: photographing weddings and families with a relaxed, emotional, and intentional approach, and creating storytelling pictures that get to live on forever in the printed albums I make for my clients.

I also photograph boudoir portraits and have a separate website for that work: Illuminate Boudoir.

Things I love:

Pizza night with my partner Tyler (aka the best night!)

Hiking with friends - here we are on the MN north shore

My niblings!! They are the sweetest little kiddos and I am an extremely proud auntie :)

I’m super close with my family and love a big ole’ family dinner :)

I adore hanging out at home with Tyler and our sweet pup luna!

My wedding with Tyler was back in 2015! My favorite photos from that day capture my and Tyler’s community and all the emotions/feelings we had, and the two of us treasure our own wedding album.
